About Edward Farms

In 1970, John and Rosemary Edwards made the move to Innisfil with their children, Diane and David. While John worked off the farm initially, Rosemary took care of cattle, horses, and chickens along with their children. As the years went by, the farm expanded, and in 1982, a new barn was built to accommodate 250 beef cattle. These cattle were finished and sold at the Ontario Stock Yards in Cookstown. However, the farm faced challenges in 2003 when Mad Cow Disease led to a drop in cattle prices due to the closure of the U.S. border. In response, the Edwards family built a store in 2004 to sell freezer meat and birdseed, becoming a dealer for Masterfeeds. Diane pursued a career as an Agrologist, while David continued working the farm’s 1000 acres, growing a variety of crops including black sunflower seeds, small-sized grain corn, wheat, barley, and peas. The farm store thrived, and in 2018, John and Rosemary retired, leaving the business in capable hands with experienced staff members like Barb and Kathy. The store expanded its offerings to include a wide assortment of local foods and home décor, catering to the growing community of Innisfil and providing them with quality farm-to-table options.
